MASSAPEQUA, Long Island (WABC) — Police on Long Island have ruled the death of an unidentified man found in the Massapequa Preserve a homicide. The body was found Thursday afternoon. On Saturday, the Nassau County Police Department described the man as Hispanic, in his late teens to early twenties, and wearing an American Eagle brand, three-button, dark colored shirt. A shirt similar to the one on the body: They released a sketch and a photo of a shirt like the one found on the man. The investigation is ongoing. A property manager is charged with stealing more than $327,000 from the owners of a Hewlett-based strip mall, authorities said. An unidentified man who was found dead in a wooded area of Massapequa appears to be a victim of foul play, Nassau County police said. The body was found in the Massapequa Preserve near Seaview Avenue and Ocean Avenue at 2:07 p.m. Thursday, police said. The body was taken to the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the victim’s identity and cause of death, which investigators said appears to be suspicious. Mineola, NY- Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos released an audit of  the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County’s (“Legal Aid”) compliance with a County contract of approximately $6 million annually to provide representation to indigent defendants. The audit covered four years, January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2015.  During this period Legal Aid defended over 50,000 cases assigned by the Courts, or over 12,000 cases per year. A suspect was arrested Monday for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 21-year-old woman at gunpoint in West Hempstead three months ago, Nassau County police said. An 80-year-old woman was fatally hit by an SUV in North New Hyde Park on Monday morning. Nassau County police said the pedestrian was crossing Hillside Avenue when she was struck by a westbound Honda Pilot at 10:20 a.m. The victim was taken to North Shore University/ Northwell Health in Manhasset, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity was not immediately available. The driver remained at the scene and was not injured. Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.
