The mistaken missile alert that sent people scurrying for cover in Hawaii last week revealed just how poorly prepared the US government is to protect the public during a nuclear attack. When J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens hit theaters in 2015, it was no surprise that moviegoers came away with lots of questions. Abrams — known for series like Lost and Alias — is notoriously fond of mystery, which he calls “the catalyst for imagination.” In a 2007 TED Talk, he presented a box he bought as a kid, and still hadn’t opened decades later — because unopened, it represented “infinite possibility.” The Force Awakens suggested a similar infinite p... We had another wonderful year of creativity and smash hits in the $116 billion game business in 2017. My favorite games of the year reflect that games are still my favorite entertainment medium, one that I spend more time with than any other. This list isn’t full of Oscar-like narratives, as if games really want to be like movies. They are a mix of game types: shooters, multiplayer melee fests, grand adventures, platformers, and strategy games. My experience with Cuphead, where the internet blasted me for failing to play it properly, is a good reminder that I should spend as much time playing game... Read More

There is no “best” bird feeder. But there are many ideal bird feeders for different situations and regions. A good bird feeder should be tough enough to withstand all four seasons and the tactics of other animals interested in the seed, such as squirrels. And a good bird feeder should be tight enough to keep the seed dry while also being easy to disassemble, clean, and refill. To attract the greatest variety of birds to your home, it’s best to offer a variety of feeder types with different high-grade feeds. You can find an overwhelming number of general bird feeders of all types and sizes. We knew going into this guide that we would never be able to test and look at every single model.
